The training of professionals is a basic tool for the delivery of effective services by organisations in the field of drug addiction. Its role is crucial for the theoretic and practical preparation, feedback and development of professionals in the demanding and constantly changing field of drug addiction treatment.

Principal training activities of  ΚΕΤΗΕΑ

  • Theoretic and practical training programs for the specialisation of professionals working in recognised drug prevention and treatment agents.T
  • heoretic and practical training programs for new professionals in drug prevention and treatment, including on-job training, in order for them to staff new services.
  • Drug addiction counsellors certification
  • Seminars, European and international conferences
  • Research programs for post-graduate of PhD students of Greek and foreign universities.

Practical training and professional specialisation of psychologists, social workers and sociologists, graduates from both Greek and foreign universities.

ΚΕΤΗΕΑ pioneers in the field of professional training through long- and short - ¬term training programs in co-operation with national and international partners, such as the University of California, San Diego, the Greek National School of Public Health, Boston College, etc. Such programs are targeted to not only its own staff but also the staff of other similar agents in Greece and neighboring countries, such as Cyprus and Bulgaria.

The topics of KETHEA 'S main training programs in 2006 included:

  • Drug-Addiction Counselling: Knowledge, Skills and Attitude in Professional Practice
  • Management and Social Planning in the Field of Drug Addiction
  • Introduction to Group Dynamics
  • Family Therapy in the Field of Drug Addiction
  • Training of Professionals Working with Former Drug Users as Working Support Advisors

    ΚΕΤΗΕΑ has also set uρ the first scientific committee for the certification of drug addiction counsellors and prevention experts in Greece, Malta, Cyprus and Bulgaria in co-operation with the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium/Alcohol and Other Drugs. Since 2006 the committee certified 200 drug addiction counsellors.
