KETHEA’s staff

KETHEA's staff look in the "front line",offering counselling and support services to addicted individuals and their families.  They are namely mental health professionals, social scientists or graduates of recognised treatment programmes and have received training in order to work in the area of treatment and prevention. In  order  for them to work with KETHEA, they have received theoretical and practical training on drug abuse treatment. Expert professionals are also employed within the sectors of  research, training of therapeutic community members, professional staff training, management, e.t.c. KETHEA therapeutic programmes are self administrative. That means that daily tasks in the therapeutic programmes are undertaken by groups of program members, as an integral part of the therapeutic process. There are currently 455 employees working for KETHEA.

Those who wish to contribute to KEΤΗΕΑ's work can be employed on a volunteer
basis and under the continuous supervision and support of the staff. KETHEA 's
supporting associations also provide invaluable services to the organisation
through activities such as raising public awareness, fund raising, reshaping
buildings for housing new units etc.

Yet KETHEA focuses greatly on research and education for professionals. Providing further education opportunities and continuous staff development is deemed an important component in the organisation. As drug addiction and prevalence rates change over time, drug treatment services need to adapt into the client’s needs in order to achieve effectiveness. To attain this, KETHEA encourages their staff professionals to apply for educational programmes that foster their career development at all levels.
KETHEA offers a set of funding mechanisms to support the further development of research scientists currently working for KETHEA through various stages of their careers. These traineeships are designed to ensure that KETHEA staff, scientists across various drug addiction-related disciplines of the very highest calibre will be able to confront current challenges and work effectively and appropriately in the field. Every year KETHEA professionals attend in-house, bought-in and/or other type of education programmes across a set of addiction relevant topics. Furthermore, KETHEA staff are entitled to apply for and be awarded traineeships and stipends to support their further education at the postgraduate (masters and pre-doctoral) level.
