Since 2001, KETHEA has been the first Greek organisation in special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the UN. KETHEA may designate authorised representatives to sit as observers at public meetings of the ECOSOC and subsidiary bodies, submit brief written statements which can be published as UN documents, and undertake specific studies or investigations or prepare specific papers for the commissions of the ECOSOC. Since 1999, KETHEA has also been associated with the Department of Public Information (DPI) of the UN. 

KETHEA is also one the founding members of the European network ENA (European Network of Addiction). It was founded by four Mediterranean organizations, which share not only their geographical position, but also a common view with regard to drug dependence and its treatment: Projecto Homen of Portugal, Projecto Hombre (Spain), the Italian Federation of Therapeutic Communities (FICT) and KETHEA (Therapy Center for Dependent Individuals – Greece). ENA aims to become a European report network for the prevention, treatment and social reintegration of former drug users and to ensure scientific and financial support for research and training of professionals in the fields mentioned above. It’s current  projects include the registration of  professional exchange and training possibilities offered by members of the network, as well as the development of a common clinical file, as a base for initiating common research projects in the future.
